Could you tell us briefly about your background? How did you get started in design and how long have you been doing it for?

“Hi my name is Jacob Cass and I’m a graphic designer from Sydney, Australia currently living in New York. I specialize in logo design, branding, web design and more. I run a blog and design studio called Just Creative and a logo award scheme called ‘Logo of the Day.

I’ve been doing design since 2005 and professionally, since 2009.

Which project has given you the most satisfaction so far and why?

“A few recent projects that I’ve enjoyed are working on the branding and website for Comedian In Cars Getting Coffee, a web series designed for Jerry Seinfeld. A luxury real estate website, called TF Cornerstone that I did the branding, UX and UI for. And a good handful of gaming websites done for Nintendo.

How do you think online design resources have influenced the design being produced today?

“The internet has given exposure to artists and designers all around the world which honestly is great, however it does also mean that trends appear (and disappear) much easier, which in turn makes things look very much alike.

The bright side of this, is that as a community, we have more tools and resources at our disposable.”

Could you make some predictions about design in advertising for 2015?

“That’s a loaded question, though if you take it from the stance of how design has been trending over the past three to five years, it says that things are getting simpler, cleaner and more direct.

Brands that connect on a authentically personal level are those set to thrive.”

Could you recommend two or more resources for designers that are reading our blog? (books, blogs, websites)

“Websites are limited, you should be connecting with people & brands. Follow them on your favorite social networks. Though for a great supply of design related links, I personally recommend Panda (a Chrome extension).”

Thank you Jacob!
